Hamm's Beer 15 Oz Zip/Tab Top Can

Hamm's 15 Oz San Francisco Tab Top

The Hamm's 15-ounce zip/tab top can produced by Theo. Hamm Brewing Co. in San Francisco, California, represents a notable chapter in West Coast breweriana history. While standard beer can sizing historically centered around 12 and 16 ounces, California and broader West Coast markets frequently featured regional capacities such as 15 ounces and 11 ounces, making this King-Size format a distinct regional item for collectors.

Theo. Hamm Brewing Company expanded to the Pacific coast after acquiring the former Rainier Brewing facility on Bryant Street in San Francisco's Mission District. The brewery became a prominent local landmark, famous for its massive rooftop animated neon beer glass sign that illuminated the city skyline. Cans bearing the San Francisco mandatory text reflect this era of regional brewing when major Midwest brands operated dedicated facilities to supply Western markets.

The can showcases the classic Hamm's presentation established around the famous "From the Land of Sky Blue Waters" theme. The artwork incorporates the familiar red and white Hamm's crest with bold lettering, accompanied by the 15-ounce volume designation and the Theo. Hamm Brewing Co. San Francisco mandatory credit.

Packaging variations exist across regional manufacturing facilities and lid configurations from this era. West Coast mandatory examples in the 15-ounce size hold a prominent place in specialized collections due to their ties to the historic Bay Area facility and the regional packaging trends of the period.
