Hamm's Beer Flat Top Can

Hamm's San Francisco Flat Top

The Hamm's Beer flat top bearing the San Francisco, California mandatory represents an important chapter in the West Coast expansion of the Theo. Hamm Brewing Company. Originally founded in St. Paul, Minnesota, the brewery expanded its footprint westward by acquiring the historic brewery facility on Bryant Street in San Francisco's Mission District—famous in local lore for its rooftop animated chalice sign overlooking Seals Stadium.

Design and Collector Significance

The can features the recognizable Hamm's design, characterized by the brand's classic typography, crown and crest insignia, and the celebrated slogan celebrating the "Land of Sky Blue Waters." Collectors distinguish this release by the brewery line identifying Theo. Hamm Brewing Co. in San Francisco, CA, rather than the primary St. Paul headquarters or later expansion facilities.

Several variations exist across production runs, featuring slight differences in mandatory text layout, copyright notices, canning manufacturer hallmarks, and vanity lids. Collectors of regional West Coast breweriana and Hamm's enthusiasts specifically seek out the San Francisco mandatory to complete geographical runs of the company's mid-century packaging.
