Hamm's Beer Pint Can

Hamm's San Francisco Pint Can

The Hamm's Beer pint can bearing the San Francisco mandatory text represents an important era of West Coast expansion for the Theo. Hamm Brewing Company. Originally founded in St. Paul, Minnesota, Hamm's established a significant presence in California when it acquired the former Rainier brewery located on Bryant Street in San Francisco's Mission District. The facility became famous in local lore for its rooftop animated neon chalice sign that stood high above neighboring Seals Stadium.

This 16-ounce container features the classic Hamm's corporate identity, built around the signature blue, white, and gold color scheme. Prominently displayed alongside the central crest and crown insignias is the classic advertising slogan, "Refreshing As The Land Of Sky Blue Waters". The upper rim and top portion of the label distinguish the container with the bold "HALF QUART" or "ONE PINT" statement. Collectors specifically identify this piece through the mandatory line attributing production to the Theo. Hamm Brewing Co. in San Francisco, California.

Among collector circles, variations of this pint exist with minor differences in can company hallmarks—such as Continental Can markings—and slight shifts in font sizing and layout on the mandatory text panel. Because West Coast facilities served regional markets across the Pacific states, the San Francisco pint remains a standout representation of post-war regional brewing history and mid-century corporate growth.
