Han's Leeber Brew Beer Flat Top Can

Han's Leeber Brew Flat Top Can

The Han's Leeber Brew Beer Flat Top Can was produced by the Maier Brewing Company of Los Angeles, California. Maier Brewing was widely recognized throughout the West Coast brewing industry for its prolific production of private labels, regional budget brews, and supermarket brands, with Han's Leeber Brew serving as a prime example of this contract canning era.

Background and Production

Operating out of downtown Los Angeles, Maier sustained high-volume operations by packaging a wide variety of store labels and proprietary brands alongside its flagship lines. Han's Leeber Brew was distributed as a value-oriented brand featuring Germanic-style naming and design motifs, a popular marketing strategy among mid-century American regional brewers seeking to evoke traditional European heritage.

Manufactured with can bodies supplied by the National Can Corporation, the container features classic Germanic blackletter typography and heraldic artwork set against metallic paneling. The clean graphics were tailored to provide clear shelf visibility in retail grocery stores.

Collector Notes and Variations

For breweriana collectors focusing on California and West Coast breweries, Maier's extensive family of contract cans represents an important historical chapter in regional packaging history. Variations of the Han's Leeber Brew can exist across different production runs, exhibiting subtle differences in mandatory text placement, can manufacturer identification markings, and metallic border detailing resulting from changes across manufacturing batches.
