Happy Hops Premium Lager Beer Flat Top Can

Santa Rosa's Beloved Hop Mascot

Produced by Grace Bros. Brewing Co. in Santa Rosa, California, the Happy Hops Premium Lager Beer flat top represents a celebrated chapter in Northern California brewing history. The can is widely recognized among breweriana collectors for its standout mascot, "Happy"—a cheerful, anthropomorphic hop cone that adorns the front of the design.

Grace Bros. was a prominent regional fixture in Sonoma County, producing numerous house and contract brands over several decades. Happy Hops emerged as one of the brewery's most memorable labels, largely due to its playful graphic identity. The design pairs vibrant colors with bold typography alongside the smiling hop figure, capturing the animated commercial art style of mid-century regional brewing.

Among breweriana collectors, Happy Hops cans hold high esteem. Different manufacturing runs resulted in notable graphic and canning variations across its lifespan, making the search for distinct issues an appealing pursuit within the hobby.

The brand's legacy also extends into modern brewing lore. Years after the original Grace Bros. facility closed, renowned Santa Rosa craft brewery Russian River Brewing Company revived the "Happy Hops" name and character artwork as a tribute to the Grace family and the region's early brewing pioneers. For collectors of West Coast beer memorabilia, this can remains a quintessential centerpiece celebrating California's brewing heritage.
