Highlander Premium Beer 12 Oz Zip/Tab Top Can

Highlander Premium Tab Top Can

The Highlander Premium Beer tab top can represents a notable chapter in Pacific Northwest brewing history, produced under the Rheinlander umbrella in Seattle, Washington. Following the repeal of Prohibition, Seattle's brewing landscape consolidated under Emil Sick and the Century Brewing Association. To capture regional grocery and retail market share alongside flagship offerings like Rainier, the parent organization utilized separate brand divisions, notably Highlander and Rheinlander.

Although marketed under separate brand identities, Highlander and Rheinlander shared brewing, canning, and distribution resources at the Seattle facility. Because of this integrated management, cans bearing the Highlander brand frequently featured mandatory manufacturing and distribution credits directly naming the Rheinlander Brewing Co.

The can design showcases Scottish heraldic motifs, bold display lettering, and traditional insignia. Many runs were produced by the American Can Company and feature their trademarked "Keglined" oval emblem.

For breweriana collectors, notable variations exist across different manufacturing runs. Known production differences include variations in the sizing and placement of the can manufacturer's insignia, subtle palette and font weight shifts in the "Premium Beer" subtitle, and alternating mandatory text that switches between Highlander Brewing Co. and Rheinlander Brewing Co.
