Holland Brand Premium Beer Flat Top Can

Holland Brand Premium Beer Can

Dating to the mid-1950s, this 12-ounce flat top can represents a classic mid-century package produced for Eastern Brewing Corporation. The label art features a distinctive vertical woodgrain background resembling traditional beer barrel staves, framing a large oval field. At the top of the central oval sits a heraldic crest containing the brewery's "EBC" initials over a diagonal band with stylized fleurs-de-lis, positioned above a "QUALITY" banner ribbon. The brand name is executed in flowing green script above red lettering identifying the beverage, anchored at the bottom by the brewery's mandatory statement from Hammonton, New Jersey.

Holland Brand was introduced during the 1930s following the repeal of Prohibition. Styled to evoke Old World brewing traditions, the brand was marketed as a dependable, premium-styled offering catering to budget-conscious consumers across the Mid-Atlantic and East Coast markets. Alongside its companion ale and bock releases, Holland Brand remained a mainstay in the company's roster across several packaging transitions before being retired in the latter half of the twentieth century.

The brewery traces its origins back to 1933, when it was established as Eastern Beverage Corporation in Hammonton. After reorganizing as Eastern Brewing Corporation in 1953, the plant became known for its flexible production capabilities, sustaining operations through private-label canning, contract packaging, and budget-friendly house labels such as Old Bohemian. While major national brands forced many regional breweries to close during post-war industry consolidation, Eastern Brewing proved resilient by adapting to changing market demands, remaining in continuous operation until 1990.

For collectors of mid-century breweriana, flat top cans from Eastern Brewing Corporation capture an important chapter in New Jersey's brewing history. The woodgrain aesthetic and clean layout make this can a compelling centerpiece for enthusiasts focused on regional East Coast packaging and classic 1950s label designs.
