Home Dry Lager Beer 12 Oz Zip Top Can

Home Dry Lager Beer from Drewrys

Produced by Drewrys Ltd. in South Bend, Indiana, the Home Dry Lager Beer 12 oz zip top can represents a notable chapter in mid-century American regional brewing history. Drewrys, originally founded in Canada before setting up its prominent United States headquarters at the former Muessel Brewery site on Elwood Avenue in South Bend, grew into one of the Midwest's most expansive brewing operations.

To appeal to a broad consumer base and diversify its catalog beyond the flagship label, Drewrys marketed Home Dry Lager as an accessible regional alternative. The can design features distinctive "Home Dry" typography framed by traditional crest imagery and clean banding, embodying the commercial graphic arts of the era.

For breweriana collectors, South Bend-brewed Home Dry cans offer compelling historical value. As Drewrys expanded through network affiliations and its eventual incorporation into Associated Brewing Company, packaging for the label was handled across different plants, including Chicago. However, cans specifically bearing the South Bend, Indiana brewery mandatory line remain focal favorites for Midwestern can collectors.

Known variations exist throughout the production lifespan of the brand, featuring subtle shifts in crest coloring, text layout, and can maker stamps such as National Can Company. The Home Dry Lager zip top can remains a standout artifact from South Bend’s prolific brewing past.
