Brewery Background and Context

During the height of regional beer packaging in northeastern Pennsylvania, Wilkes-Barre served as a major center for contract canning and regional brands. The Lion, Inc. was one of the few legacy breweries in the area to survive industry consolidation. To cater to specific distributor channels and retail markets, the brewery bottled and canned various labels under alternate corporate names, including Pocono Brewing Company. The Home brand—often appearing as Home Pilsner Beer or Home Premium Beer—represented one of these classic value-tier offerings distributed throughout Pennsylvania and neighboring markets.

Graphic Design and Label Characteristics

The Home Pilsner can features a distinctive layout emblematic of mid-century and late-era regional Pennsylvania breweriana. The front face highlights bold "Home" branding alongside traditional banner graphics and crest accents. The label identifies the brew as "Pilsner Beer" and incorporates the Wilkes-Barre, PA mandatory brewery statement along the seam.
