Home Premium Quality Beer 12 Oz Tab Top Can

Pocono's Home Premium Beer Can

The Home Premium Quality Beer 12 Oz Tab Top Can represents a notable piece of Pennsylvania brewing history. Bearing the label of the Pocono Brewing Company of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, the can is closely tied to the rich industrial heritage of Luzerne County brewing.

Brewery Background

In Wilkes-Barre, the Pocono Brewing Company served as an alternate trade name and brewing imprint associated with The Lion, Inc., one of Pennsylvania's most enduring regional breweries. Regional breweries frequently adopted dedicated trade names like Pocono Brewing Co. to bottle and can localized, value-priced, or private labels for regional distribution across Northeastern Pennsylvania and nearby markets. The "Home" brand was marketed as an approachable, everyday product alongside other traditional offerings from the Wilkes-Barre facility.

Design and Collector Significance

The can features straightforward commercial graphics characteristic of its production era, incorporating clean typography and traditional decorative accents framed by standard mandatory brewery text identifying Wilkes-Barre as its home.

Among breweriana collectors, the can is recognized across different canning runs that exhibit variations in paint finish, distributor text phrasing, and seam construction. Because of The Lion's expansive portfolio of regional sub-brands and contract packages, this container holds particular interest for collectors focusing on Pennsylvania breweriana, coal-region brewing history, and regional brand extensions.
