Hudepohl 14k Pure Grain Beer 12 Oz Tab Top Can

Hudepohl 14K Woodgrain Tab Top

The Hudepohl 14k Pure Grain Beer 12 Oz Tab Top Can represents a notable chapter in the packaging history of Cincinnati's Hudepohl Brewing Company. Founded by Ludwig Hudepohl II in 1885, the brewery grew into one of the central pillars of southwestern Ohio's brewing landscape, supplying beloved regional staples to Queen City taverns and sporting venues for generations.

Design and Visual Motif

The 14-K label took its identity from the brewery's heavily promoted "14-K Process" and Pure Grain brewing designation. While standard issues of the brand frequently utilized metallic gold backgrounds, this straight steel container is distinguished by its printed faux woodgrain backdrop. The naturalistic patterning provides an eye-catching contrast for the prominent 14-K emblem, clean typography, and traditional brewery markings.

Collector Notes and Variations

Within breweriana circles, this woodgrain issue is cataloged alongside variations that feature noticeable differences in the woodgrain texture and graphic detailing across the body of the can. These graphic shifts across manufacturing runs make the can an intriguing focus for regional collectors and specialists in midwestern brewing history.
