Iroquois Draft Flat Top Can

Buffalo's Iroquois Draft Can

The Iroquois Draft flat top can represents a notable chapter in the history of the Iroquois Brewing Company of Buffalo, New York, manufactured under the label designation for the Division of Iroquois Industries. Operating out of its long-standing facility on Broadway and Pratt Street, the brewery stood as one of the most prominent regional beer producers in Western New York.

The can's visual presentation features the brand's iconic Native American profile emblem adorned in a feathered headdress, flanked by bold typography emphasizing the draft-style brew. The metallic composition and distinct graphics reflect mid-century packaging design.

The mandatory brewery text attributing production to "Div. of Iroquois Indus." reflects a distinct corporate restructuring period before the historic plant ceased brewing operations in the early 1970s. Known variations exist across the production run, with subtle differences appearing in the fine print manufacturer marks, canning codes, and mandatory statement phrasing. As the canning industry rapidly shifted toward pull-tab openings during the mid-to-late 1960s, flat top examples bearing the Iroquois Draft label became enduring favorites for collectors dedicated to New York state brewing heritage.
