Iroquois Indian Head Ale Crowntainer

Indian Head Ale Crowntainer

The Iroquois Indian Head Ale Crowntainer represents one of the most distinguished breweriana pieces produced by the Iroquois Beverage Corporation of Buffalo, New York. Produced at the brewery's historic Pratt Street facility, this container served as the package for the company's signature ale.

Design and Visual Identity

The graphic layout prominently features the brewery's famous Native American chief profile emblem set against a distinctive white cross-hatched background. To clearly differentiate this ale release from its companion lager beer container, the bold "Iroquois" typography is printed in green lettering rather than the red lettering utilized for the standard beer version. The crisp green text paired with the detailed central portrait makes it one of the standout graphic designs from mid-century Upstate New York brewing.

Collector Significance and Variations

Among breweriana collectors, the Indian Head Ale Crowntainer is recognized as significantly scarcer and more difficult to acquire than its companion beer counterpart. Known variations exist across different manufacturing runs, exhibiting subtle differences in mandatory text and canning marks. Because Iroquois stood as Buffalo's premier brewery for decades, this can remains a prized centerpiece for regional New York specialists and graphic container enthusiasts.
