Iroquois Indian Head Beer 12 Oz Zip/Tab Top Can

Iroquois Indian Head Zip Top Can

Hailing from Buffalo, New York, the Iroquois Indian Head Beer can produced under International Breweries Inc. represents a prominent chapter in upstate New York brewing history. The Iroquois brand operated out of the historic Pratt Street facility in Buffalo, serving as a regional powerhouse before and after its consolidation into the International Breweries network.

The central feature of this can is the bold Native American profile portrait in a feathered headdress, artwork originally developed by brewery advertising artist Nick Schwab Jr. Set against a distinctive background with classic typography, this graphic presentation made Iroquois one of the most recognizable regional beer labels in the eastern United States.

For breweriana enthusiasts, this can holds significant collector interest due to its ties to Buffalo's industrial heyday. Multiple manufacturing variations exist among these cans, largely stemming from production across different can manufacturing partners such as the Continental Can Company and American Can Company. These differences appear in subtle color shifts across the red and metallic accents, small modifications to the mandatory text, and distinct seam styles. The Iroquois Indian Head label from the International Breweries era remains a quintessential centerpiece for collections dedicated to New York brewing history and mid-century graphic design.
