Iroquois Indian Head Beer Flat Top Can

Buffalo's Iroquois Indian Head Can

The Iroquois Indian Head Beer flat top can is a staple of Western New York brewing history, associated with the operations of International Breweries, Inc. in Buffalo, New York. Originating from the historic Pratt Street facility formerly operated by the Iroquois Beverage Corporation, this container reflects the mid-twentieth-century period when regional brewing operations were acquired and managed under the International Breweries umbrella.

The can features the prominent profile portrait of a Native American chieftain adorned with a feathered headdress, flanked by bold typography and metallic accents. This emblem served as the defining trademark of the brewery's flagship label for decades and remains one of the most celebrated graphic icons among breweriana enthusiasts.

Collectors recognize several notable aspects of this release, particularly the mandatory side panel text designating International Breweries as the manufacturer in Buffalo. Variations exist among preserved cans, displaying subtle differences in metallic gold trim intensity, font weight on the mandatory notices, and small manufacturing insignia on the seam and lids. Due to the brand's deep regional roots and prominent advertising reach throughout the Great Lakes and Northeast regions, this can remains a key representative piece of Buffalo's commercial brewing legacy.
