Jaguar Malt Liquor 12 Oz Zip Top Can

Standard's Jaguar Malt Liquor

Produced by Standard Rochester Brewing Co. in Rochester, New York, Jaguar Malt Liquor stands out as a memorable mid-century regional offering. Standard Rochester frequently utilized the trade name "Jaguar Brewing Company" on the mandatory text of its packaging while expanding its lineup to include specialty malt liquors.

The can's graphic design emphasizes striking feline imagery, showcasing a sleek jaguar alongside bold, stylized typography. Certain print runs highlighted the brand name in metallic inks, creating an eye-catching visual on store shelves.

Beyond its shelf appeal, the brand is celebrated among breweriana enthusiasts for an imaginative marketing stunt. To promote the product, the brewery deployed a genuine British Jaguar E-Type sports car custom-painted in a spotted jaguar coat motif. This roving advertisement toured regional venues and promotional events to build brand recognition.

Known variations exist across production runs, displaying subtle differences in mandatory text placement, manufacturer marks from can producers such as Continental Can Company, and metallic text coloring. These distinctive elements make the can a prized piece of upstate New York brewing history.
