James Bond's 007 Malt Liquor 12 Oz Tab Top Can

Unauthorized 007 Malt Liquor Can

Capitalizing on the height of 1960s espionage mania and the worldwide popularity of Ian Fleming's secret agent, the National Brewing Company released James Bond's 007 Special Blend through its facility in Phoenix, Arizona. Rather than marketing a conventional single style, the brewery branded the container with the distinctive descriptor: "A subtle blend of PREMIUM BEER and MALT LIQUOR".

The label directly reflects the cinematic spy thriller aesthetic, featuring a glamorous model looking upward against a nighttime London skyline that showcases the illuminated clock tower of the Houses of Parliament. National Brewing produced variations across the series with different photographic model portraits, British architectural backdrops, and multi-city mandatory brewery text.

The product run was famously cut short due to licensing issues. National Brewing launched the product without securing trademark approval from Ian Fleming's estate. Confronted with legal pressure, the brewery quickly withdrew the line and halted distribution. The sudden recall left relatively few cans in circulation, transforming surviving examples into celebrated crossover pieces for both breweriana collectors and James Bond memorabilia enthusiasts.
