Jax Beer 16 Oz Tab Top Can

Jackson Brewing 16 Oz Jax Can

The Jax Beer 16 Oz Tab Top Can is a classic Southern collectible issued by the historic Jackson Brewing Company of New Orleans, Louisiana. Situated along Decatur Street in the French Quarter directly facing Jackson Square, Jackson Brewing grew across the twentieth century to become the largest regional brewery in the Deep South and one of the most prominent independent producers in the nation.

Under the longstanding stewardship of the Fabacher family, the Jax brand was deeply woven into Gulf Coast culture and regional identity. While 12-ounce packaging served as the primary retail format of the era, the 16-ounce pint container—often marketed historically as a half-quart—catered to consumers seeking larger individual servings. Manufactured with a straight steel body and a tab-style lid, this can reflects the evolving canning technologies adopted by regional brewers during the tab top era.

For breweriana enthusiasts, 16-ounce cans from New Orleans hold special appeal, representing the final decades of Jackson Brewing Company's independent hometown operations before the facility closed and the label transitioned to outside ownership. The bold typography and recognizable Jax branding make this pint can a standout piece of Louisiana brewing heritage.
