Keeley Premium Quality Ale Flat Top Can

Keeley Premium Quality Ale

The Keeley Premium Quality Ale flat top is a notable mid-century container produced under the authority of Best Brewing Co. of Chicago, Illinois. While the Keeley brand originally stems from Chicago's historic Keeley Brewing Company—founded in the late nineteenth century—the label later saw production through Best Brewing Co., cementing its legacy in the competitive Chicago brewing market.

Design and Visual Appeal

The label features a bold graphic layout characteristic of Chicago regional breweriana. Designed with a distinct contrast of green, metallic silver accents, and crisp white lettering, the can displays the prominent "Keeley" script along with the "Premium Quality Ale" designation. The front face is anchored by a stylized oval and classic mid-century typography, providing strong shelf display value among collectors of vintage Midwestern ale cans.

Label Variations

Collectors recognize variations of the Keeley brand across different canning facilities and text arrangements. In addition to the Chicago production by Best Brewing Co., the Keeley name was also packaged by out-of-state facilities, including operations in Maryland. Minor variations in manufacturer marks and mandatory side-panel information exist among cans produced across different canning lines.

Collectibility

Ale cans from the Chicago brewing district are particularly sought after, as ale production was generally lower in volume compared to standard lagers during this era. The Keeley Premium Quality Ale can remains a staple piece for enthusiasts focused on Chicago brewery history and metropolitan breweriana.
