Keg Beer 12 Oz Tab/Insert Top Can

Maier Keg Beer 12 Oz Tab Can

Produced by the storied Maier Brewing Company in Los Angeles, California, the 12-ounce Keg Beer can represents a notable chapter in West Coast brewing history. Maier Brewing, established along North Main Street in downtown Los Angeles, was among Southern California's longest-operating brewing institutions. Under the leadership of figures like Paul Kalmanovitz, the facility built a reputation for producing an extensive catalog of regional, proprietary, and contract labels alongside its flagship lines.

The Keg Beer design features bold, eye-catching graphics centered around an illustrated wooden barrel motif, emphasizing tavern-style draft imagery in a portable container. The label prominently showcases the "Keg" moniker flanked by straightforward typography and "Natural Flavor" text.

For breweriana collectors, this can from Maier holds particular appeal as a representative piece of California's mid-century packaging landscape. Variations of the can exist across different production runs, exhibiting subtle differences in mandatory statement placement, font weighting, and lid configurations. As regional brewing consolidation accelerated across the American West, labels like Keg Beer were phased out, making these containers sought-after artifacts of Los Angeles industrial brewing heritage.
