Keg Brand Beer Pint Can

Maier Keg Brand Pint Can History

The Keg Brand Beer pint can was produced by the Maier Brewing Company at its historic brewing facility on Aliso Street in downtown Los Angeles, California. Maier was one of Southern California's longest-standing industrial breweries, tracing its lineage back to the late nineteenth-century Philadelphia Brewery. After surviving Prohibition, Maier established itself as a prolific regional producer renowned for its wide portfolio of proprietary and contract-canned labels.

To complement high-profile staples such as Brew 102, Maier marketed Keg Brand Beer as a core value label across regional West Coast markets. The 16-ounce pint container catered to consumers seeking larger individual servings, standing out among standard packaging options of the era.

The graphic presentation of the can centers on the brand motif: an illustration of a traditional wooden barrel keg, accompanied by bold typography and the slogan "Natural Flavor". The steel containers were produced by major period manufacturers, including the National Can Company.

Among breweriana collectors, the Keg Brand pint serves as a classic artifact of mid-century Los Angeles brewing. Variations of the label exist across production batches, characterized by subtle differences in mandatory legal statements, copyright lines, and manufacturer rim stamps.
