Kingsbury Beer Flat Top Can

Kingsbury Beer Flat Top History

The Kingsbury Beer flat top can represents a notable era in Wisconsin brewing history, originating from the Kingsbury Breweries Company plant in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Formerly known as the historic Gutsch Brewery before being incorporated under the Kingsbury corporate banner in the 1930s, the Sheboygan facility served as a major production hub for the brand's flagship offerings.

Marketed with promotional slogans such as "Fit for a King" and "The Aristocrat of Beer," Kingsbury established a strong regional footprint across the Upper Midwest. The can's graphics prominently featured the distinguished Kingsbury crown insignia alongside bold typography that reflected mid-century commercial design trends.

For collectors, the Sheboygan flat tops offer insight into period can manufacturing and graphic evolution. Multiple label variations exist across the production era, featuring subtle differences in mandatory brewery text, copyright markings, and can company maker's marks. Related variations from the Sheboygan plant also include slight modifications in alcohol statements and companion brand variations under the Kingsbury label.

The Sheboygan facility produced these cans up until Kingsbury Breweries Company merged with the G. Heileman Brewing Company in 1963. Today, the flat top remains a celebrated piece of Sheboygan's rich brewing heritage and a classic staple of Midwestern breweriana collections.
