Kk Beer 12 Oz Tab Top Can

KK Beer Falstaff Fort Wayne Can

Overview and Production History

The KK Beer 12 oz tab top can was produced by the Falstaff Brewing Corporation at its Fort Wayne, Indiana facility. Following Falstaff's acquisition of the historic Berghoff Brewing plant in Fort Wayne, the corporation utilized the facility to brew and package both its core labels and various regional contract brands. KK Beer was canned as a private-label offering distributed through retail channels, notably convenience store chains such as King Kwik in the Midwest.

Packaging Design and Graphics

The container features drawn-and-ironed manufacturing, representing the evolution of metal beverage packaging during this period. Its graphic layout focuses on bold, utilitarian typography prominently displaying the "KK" brand identity paired with standard mandatory brewery notations. The required brewery text explicitly designates Fort Wayne as a production location under Falstaff's management. The design emphasizes clean, direct commercial aesthetics typical of convenience market private labels of the era.

Collector Context and Variations

For breweriana collectors, contract-brewed and convenience store brand cans provide tangible documentation of brewery capacity management and regional retail distribution networks. Because budget and store-brand cans were marketed for everyday consumer purchase and rarely preserved, surviving specimens remain popular among regional specialists and collectors focusing on Falstaff plant history. Known variations exist among surviving cans, featuring subtle distinctions in mandatory text alignment, statutory wording, and minor trim elements across production runs.
