Koch's Golden Anniversary Beer 12 Oz Tab Top Can

Dunkirk's Flagship Regional Can

Introduced by the Fred Koch Brewery of Dunkirk, New York, the Koch's Golden Anniversary Beer can represents one of Western New York's enduring regional brewing legacies. Originally established as the Lake City Brewery in 1888 along the shores of Lake Erie, the Fred Koch Brewery created the Golden Anniversary label to commemorate the company's fiftieth milestone. The brand quickly surged in popularity across regional taverns and retailers, solidifying its role as the brewery's primary flagship offering.

The lithography on the can features a bold metallic gold, crimson, black, and white color scheme. The design centers around the stylized "Koch's" script and "Golden Anniversary Beer" branding, paired with mandatory brewery text identifying the Dunkirk packaging location.

Breweriana collectors note several manufacturing variations across different production runs. Notable distinctions include minor typography shifts, differing arrangements of mandatory text on the side panels, and alternate can manufacturer marks.

As an independent regional staple operating prior to the widespread consolidation of New York State breweries, the Fred Koch Brewery left behind a rich legacy, with this Golden Anniversary can serving as a celebrated artifact of Chautauqua County brewing history.
