Kol Premium Quality Beer Flat Top Can

Best Brewing's Kol Flat Top Can

The Kol Premium Quality Beer flat top can represents a notable mid-century offering from the Best Brewing Corporation of Chicago, Illinois. Operating out of its historic facility on Fletcher Street in Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood, Best Brewing was a prominent regional producer known for packaging its own flagship labels as well as various contract and proprietary brands.

Kol Premium Quality Beer was prominently marketed with bold text that frequently highlighted the beverage as "Extra Light – Extra Dry" alongside its "Premium Quality" banner. The container design centers around bold, stylized lettering for the "Kol" name, creating a clean and memorable presentation typical of mid-century Midwest graphic design. The steel containers were produced in collaboration with major can manufacturers of the era, frequently bearing the American Can Company's "Keglined" oval logo along the side seam.

For breweriana enthusiasts specializing in Chicago brewing history, the Kol can from Best Brewing is a recognized collectible. While the Kol brand name saw distribution under other entities across different markets—such as Silver Springs Brewing in Washington and Atlantic Brewing in Chicago—the cans issued under the Best Brewing corporate name hold particular appeal for collectors of defunct Illinois breweries. Known variations of the can exist among collectors, featuring differences such as state-specific tax lids and distinct text arrangements regarding brewery designations and regulatory statements.
