Kol Premium Quality Beer Flat Top Can

Kol Premium Quality Beer Flat Top

The Kol Premium Quality Beer Flat Top Can is a collectible container produced under the Wisconsin Brewing Company name in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Operating in close association with the Fox Head brewing facility, the "Wisconsin" trade name was utilized to package and distribute various regional brands throughout Midwestern markets.

Design and Variations

The can features mid-century lithography highlighted by prominent "Kol" branding alongside the descriptive banner "Extra Light Extra Dry." Primarily manufactured by the Continental Can Company, the label exhibits subtle manufacturing differences. Documented variations exist among surviving examples, including differences in canning plant identification codes, mandatory state-specific tax stamps (such as Michigan tax lids), and minor text placement shifts across different production runs.

Collector and Regional Significance

Waukesha was historically celebrated for its natural mineral spring water, a feature heavily promoted by local brewing entities. Cans bearing the Wisconsin Brewing Company designation from Waukesha serve as notable artifacts documenting regional brewing history before industry consolidation diminished smaller local labels. Consequently, this flat top can remains a desirable entry for enthusiasts focusing on historic Wisconsin breweriana.
