Krueger A Premium Cream Ale Quart

Krueger Premium Cream Ale Quart

Produced by the historic G. Krueger Brewing Company of Newark, New Jersey, the Krueger A Premium Cream Ale quart can is an iconic piece of American breweriana. G. Krueger holds a foundational place in brewing history as the very first brewing company to market beer in cans during the mid-1930s, establishing a standard that revolutionized the global beverage industry.

This 32-ounce container features Continental Can Company's "Cap Sealed" construction, showcasing bold mid-century brewery graphics. The design prominently displays the Krueger name alongside the brewery's famous "K-Man" mascot—a cheerful waiter carrying a serving tray—which served as a recognizable hallmark of the brand's post-Prohibition marketing campaigns. Krueger's cream ale was one of the brewery's flagship offerings, and packaging it in larger quart formats catered to social gatherings and home consumption.

Collectors recognize variations of this quart can that reflect evolving manufacturing runs and statutory requirements. These variations include subtle shifts in side-panel text, differences in the Continental Can Company trademark emblem, and changes surrounding the presence or removal of the Internal Revenue Tax Paid (IRTP) statement. Because large-format cans were produced in smaller quantities than standard single-serving containers, quart cans bearing the Krueger name remain prized centerpiece items among East Coast breweriana enthusiasts.
