Krueger Cream Ale Quart

Krueger Cream Ale Quart Overview

Brewed by the G. Krueger Brewing Company of Newark, New Jersey, the Krueger Cream Ale Quart holds a significant place in breweriana history. G. Krueger is celebrated in beverage packaging lore as the first brewing company to successfully commercialize canned beer in partnership with the American Can Company. Following the widespread success of early canned offerings, large-format quart cans were introduced to serve consumers seeking larger portions for social gatherings and home use.

The Krueger Cream Ale Quart features bold, classic lithography highlighted by rich green tones, metallic accents, and the prominent Krueger brand logo. Depending on the production era, the design showcases the recognizable Krueger server illustration alongside mandatory brewery text identifying Newark, New Jersey. Earlier issues also incorporate the historic "Internal Revenue Tax Paid" (IRTP) statement on the side paneling.

Collectors actively document variations of the Krueger Cream Ale Quart that appeared throughout its run. Known variations include differences in background coloring, adjustments to the server figure and shield artwork, and revisions in mandatory legal verbiage. With its commanding display presence and direct ties to the brewery that launched the canned beer revolution, the Krueger Cream Ale Quart remains a prized staple for collectors of large-format cans.
