Land Of Lakes Pale Dry Beer Flat Top Can

Chicago's Land Of Lakes Flat Top

The Land Of Lakes Pale Dry Beer Flat Top Can represents a classic chapter in mid-century Chicago brewing history. Produced by the Pilsen Brewing Company, situated along Blue Island Avenue in Chicago, Illinois, this can showcases regional Midwestern marketing from an era when independent urban breweries competed vigorously with emerging national giants.

Brewery Heritage

Pilsen Brewing Company operated in Chicago's Pilsen neighborhood, a historic hub of brewing tradition. Following Prohibition, the brewery maintained an active catalog of regional staples, with Land Of Lakes emerging as a standout label alongside brewery offerings like Carls-Brü. Pilsen Brewing packaged and distributed the Land Of Lakes label until the brewery ceased operations in the 1960s, after which the brand name was utilized by other regional entities such as Canadian Ace.

Can Design and Manufacturing

Manufactured primarily by the Continental Can Company, this steel container features Continental's distinct plant stamps near the seam. The graphic design highlights crisp mid-century typography, bold arrowhead and ribbon motif accents, and prominent placement of the "Pale Dry Beer" moniker and mandatory Chicago brewery credits.

Collector Notes

Among breweriana collectors, cans bearing the original Pilsen Brewing Co. imprint are prized artifacts of Chicago's mid-century brewing landscape. Minor variations exist across different manufacturing runs, typically distinguished by small changes in side-panel mandatory text, canning plant numeric codes, and rim specifications.
