Leinenkugel's Beer Flat Top Can

Leinenkugel's Flat Top Heritage

Produced for the Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Company of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, the Leinenkugel's Beer flat top can represents a classic piece of Upper Midwest breweriana. Manufactured primarily by the Continental Can Company, the container features the brewery's traditional metallic gold backdrop, highlighted by bold red and white accents alongside the iconic Leinenkugel script.

Collectors prize this container for its distinctive regional graphics and production details. Known variations exist across manufacturing runs, showcasing subtle differences in mandatory brewery text, manufacturing plant codes (such as Continental's Milwaukee facility), and layout adjustments on the side panels. Certain issues were distributed with factory-stamped vanity lids displaying the brewery name directly across the top metal lid.

Historical breweriana archives have also revealed rare sample air-filled test cans sourced from brewery estates, reflecting the packaging trials conducted before full commercial runs. As an enduring emblem of Chippewa Falls brewing heritage, this flat top stands as a celebrated artifact from one of Wisconsin's oldest regional brewing traditions.
