Little King Premium Beer Flat Top Can

Little King Premium Flat Top

The Little King Premium Beer flat top can represents a notable example of contract brewing and private-label packaging by the Horlacher Brewing Company of Allentown, Pennsylvania. Produced specifically for King Kullen Grocery Company, Inc., based in Westbury, New York—widely recognized in retail history as one of America's earliest supermarket chains—this label served as a dedicated house brand distributed across Long Island and the greater New York metropolitan market.

During this era, regional Pennsylvania breweries frequently utilized their canning lines to produce specialty house brands for independent distributors and supermarket networks. Horlacher's partnership with King Kullen allowed the Allentown facility to expand its commercial footprint beyond its local territory.

The can features bold typography centered on the Little King title, paired with classic mid-century graphical elements emphasizing its premium designation. The mandatory side-panel text credits Horlacher Brewing Co. as the brewer alongside distribution information for King Kullen.

For breweriana collectors, the can is recognized for subtle manufacturing variations. These variations include differences in distributor text placement, shifts in copyright markings, and alternate layouts of the fluid ounce declaration, such as examples featuring the volume statement along the bottom rim.
