Lucky Lager Aged Dated Beer Flat Top Can

Lucky Lager Aged Dated Beer Can

Produced by General Brewing Corporation (often listed on mandatory panels as General Corp.) in San Francisco, California, this flat top can represents one of the West Coast's most prominent post-Prohibition brewing staples. Lucky Lager distinguished itself in the mid-20th century through its pioneering 'Age Dated' marketing campaign, stamping packaging with production dates to promote brewery transparency and consumer confidence.

Design and Collector Significance

The can features bold Lucky Lager branding alongside explicit notations highlighting the beer as age-dated. During this era, General Brewing Corporation operated its flagship facility in the Bayview neighborhood of San Francisco before expanding production to additional facilities throughout the Pacific region.

Collectors prize this can for its historical connection to classic West Coast commercial brewing. Variations exist across production runs, displaying subtle differences in mandatory company text, canning line markings, and metallic paint treatments. Because the company eventually transitioned its corporate identity to the Lucky Lager Brewing Company, examples bearing the earlier General Corp. designation remain especially desirable pieces of San Francisco brewing history.
