Lucky Lager Aged Dated Beer Flat Top Can

Lucky Lager Aged Dated Beer Can

The Lucky Lager Aged Dated Beer flat top can, produced for San Francisco's General Brewing Corp., represents a significant milestone in mid-century beer packaging and West Coast breweriana history. Lucky Lager distinguished itself in retail distribution by introducing the prominent "Age Dated" concept, utilizing date-stamped lids to highlight brewing age and freshness directly on the container.

Design and Collector Significance

The can's lithography features the bold, recognizable Lucky Lager typography centered around the distinct "Age Dated" banner. Because General Brewing Corp. was a dominant force in California brewing, this particular label design was widely distributed and became one of the defining beer cans of the region.

For breweriana collectors, several variations of this can exist, reflecting different production runs by can manufacturers of the era. These variations include subtle shifts in typography, metallic versus painted finishes, mandatory text positioning, and the inclusion of historical regulatory phrasing such as the Internal Revenue Tax Paid (IRTP) statement. Cans bearing the specific General Brewing Corp. San Francisco mandatory line remain foundational pieces for West Coast and regional packaging collections.
