Lucky Lager Beer 12 Oz Tab Top Can

Lucky Lager Fort Wayne Tab Top Can

The Lucky Lager Beer 12 oz tab top can produced by the Falstaff Brewing Corporation represents a noteworthy chapter in late-twentieth-century American brewing consolidation. While Lucky Lager originated as a flagship West Coast brand created by the Lucky Lager Brewing Company (later General Brewing), corporate realignments brought the label under Falstaff's operational umbrella as the company managed an extensive multi-plant distribution network across the United States.

This specific can originates from Falstaff's Fort Wayne, Indiana facility. Historically known as Plant #7, the Fort Wayne brewery was established when Falstaff acquired the longstanding Berghoff Brewing facility on Grant Avenue. Throughout the mid-to-late twentieth century, the Fort Wayne plant functioned as a primary packaging and distribution powerhouse for the Midwest, running Falstaff's proprietary labels alongside partner and acquired trademarks.

Graphic Design and Visual Elements

The can face highlights the classic Lucky Lager branding, featuring the distinctive bold typographic logo set against a clean metallic background. The side mandatory panel clearly identifies the Falstaff Brewing Corp. in Fort Wayne, Indiana, confirming its Midwestern origin.

Collector Notes and Variations

Within breweriana collecting circles, this can bridges West Coast brand heritage with classic Indiana brewing history. Variations exist among surviving cans, distinguished by differences in side seam fabrication, lid stampings, statutory tax disclaimer text, and whether Fort Wayne is listed as a solitary brewery address or featured as part of a multi-city roster alongside other Falstaff hubs. Specimens featuring the Fort Wayne mandatory remain sought-after pieces for specialists focusing on Indiana breweriana, Falstaff production facilities, and nationwide contract-label distribution history.
