Master Premium Beer Flat Top Can

F&S Master Premium Flat Top

The Master Premium Beer Flat Top Can stands as a classic artifact of Pennsylvania brewing history, produced by the Fuhrmann & Schmidt Brewing Company in Shamokin, Pennsylvania. Located in the heart of Pennsylvania's historic Anthracite coal region, Fuhrmann & Schmidt (commonly recognized simply as F&S) served local and regional markets with a variety of staples, among which Master Premium occupied a distinct place.

Design and Visual Appeal

The can features bold, mid-century graphic design characterized by the prominent "Master Premium" title set against an eye-catching background framed with heraldic design elements and clean typography. Cans produced under this label often incorporated metallic gold and deep accent colors, lending the can an upscale aesthetic intended to compete with larger national brewing brands during the regional brewing boom.

Production & Collector Notes

Collectors documenting the output of Fuhrmann & Schmidt recognize that Master Premium flat tops were manufactured with subtle variations over time. These variations include differences in the bottom lid tax stamps, side-panel mandatory text, and minor color shifts between print runs from different can manufacturers.

As independent regional breweries consolidated or faced closure throughout the latter half of the twentieth century, items associated with Fuhrmann & Schmidt—especially well-preserved flat tops—have grown in prominence within breweriana collecting circles. The Master Premium label remains a prized piece of Central Pennsylvania’s industrial brewing legacy.
