Meister Brau Bock Draft Flat Top Can

Meister Brau Bock Draft Can

Produced in Chicago, Illinois, by the Peter Hand Brewery Company (later known as Meister Brau, Inc.), the Meister Brau Bock Draft flat top represents a notable chapter in Midwestern brewing history. As the signature brand of one of Chicago’s premier industrial breweries, Meister Brau maintained a strong presence across the Great Lakes region.

Bock beers were traditionally brewed as seasonal offerings released in late winter and early spring, meaning packaging runs for these cans were far more limited in volume than those for year-round pale lagers. Manufactured with the American Can Company Keglined process, the can design features the "Draft" designation alongside traditional bock styling and heraldic Meister Brau brand elements.

For breweriana collectors, this can holds special historical resonance tied directly to the evolution of the American beer industry. In Chicago's competitive mid-century market, Peter Hand Brewery remained one of the final independent regional powerhouses operating within city limits before the industry consolidated. The brewery became deeply rooted in Chicago culture through extensive local sports sponsorships and television advertising. The Meister Brau label later cemented its place in brewing lore when the company's assets and formulas were acquired in the 1970s by the Miller Brewing Company.

Subtle variations of this can exist across production batches, distinguished by slight changes in mandatory text, brewery signature lines, and promotional vanity lids. Because seasonal bock releases had brief distribution windows, this can remains a treasured staple for collectors focused on Chicago's rich brewing heritage.
