Meister Brau Premium Draft Flat Top Can

Meister Brau Premium Draft Can

The Meister Brau Premium Draft flat top can represents an important chapter in Chicago brewing history. Originating from the historic Peter Hand Brewing Company (which later operated as Meister Brau, Inc.) on North Avenue, Meister Brau stood as the brewery's flagship label and established itself as one of the Midwest's most recognizable names. The facility is widely remembered by industrial historians and breweriana enthusiasts as the last major legacy macro-brewery to operate within the Chicago city limits.

Peter Hand Brewing propelled the Meister Brau name into mainstream popular culture through high-profile regional marketing campaigns. The brewery sponsored major professional sports franchises, including the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Blackhawks, and Chicago Bulls, while maintaining a steady broadcast presence via the late-night Meister Brau Showcase on Chicago's WGN Radio. Beyond its Chicago footprint, the company holds a significant place in broader brewing history through its development of Meister Brau Lite; when the brewery's brand assets and formulas were sold to the Miller Brewing Company, that light beer concept laid the direct foundation for Miller Lite.

Featuring bold typography, draft branding, and traditional heraldic crest imagery, this flat top can remains a staple piece of mid-century Chicago breweriana. For collectors tracking design details across different factory runs, known variations exist, exhibiting subtle differences in canning manufacturer trademarks, seam construction, and mandatory side-panel statements.
