Michelob Beer 12 Oz Tab Top Can

Michelob Tab Top Columbus Can

Produced by Anheuser-Busch at its Columbus, Ohio brewing facility, this twelve-ounce container represents an important era in the packaging history of the Michelob brand. Historically celebrated for its signature draught presence and hourglass-shaped bottles, Michelob's transition into canned distribution was engineered to bring super-premium branding directly to retail shelves.

Packaging Design and Graphics

The can design translates the upscale identity of the Michelob marque onto the metal format. Featuring the distinctive script typography set against a clean, refined background, the layout incorporates the classic ribbon emblem and traditional Anheuser-Busch heraldry. The mandatory brewery text identifies the Columbus facility, an operation established during the company's major regional expansion in the late twentieth century. Some canning runs featured raised, embossed lettering and detailed metallic accents that reinforced the brand's position as a higher-tier domestic product.

Manufacturing and Variations

Throughout its manufacturing history, Anheuser-Busch utilized different steel and aluminum fabrication techniques across its national supply chain. For breweriana collectors, variations exist regarding the arrangement of mandatory plant listings, copyright text placements, metal lid profiles, and minor shifts in lithographic color tones. Cans bearing the Columbus mandatory statement remain a classic fixture among collections focused on Ohio brewing history and major national brewery labels.
