Milwaukee Club Beer Cone Top Can

Schlitz's Milwaukee Club Cone Top

The Milwaukee Club Beer cone top can represents an intriguing chapter in the packaging portfolio of the Jos. Schlitz Brewing Company of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. While the brewery was widely recognized for its eponymous flagship label, Schlitz also packaged secondary brands such as Milwaukee Club to broaden its retail reach and satisfy regional distribution channels.

Manufactured by the Continental Can Company under their Cap-Sealed design, the can features bold typography set against rich contrasting colors and ornate crest details, frequently accompanied by text promoting its draft keg flavor.

For breweriana collectors, the Milwaukee Club label is particularly notable for its range of production variations. The can was produced in low-profile as well as high-profile cone formats, reflecting shifts in can manufacturing and tooling across different production runs. In addition, regional regulations and distribution arrangements resulted in several distinct mandatory text variations across the label, including differing alcohol tax statements from the Internal Revenue Tax Paid era and specific distributor imprints, such as those designated for East Coast markets.

Because Jos. Schlitz stood among the dominant brewing titans in American history, its secondary brand cone tops provide key insight into mid-century packaging logistics, distributor networks, and regional market strategies.
