Milwaukee Club Beer Cone Top Can

Schlitz's Milwaukee Club Cone Top

Brewed and packaged by the Jos. Schlitz Brewing Company of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the Milwaukee Club label served as an important secondary brand in the brewing giant's portfolio during the Internal Revenue Tax Paid (IRTP) era. While Schlitz was globally famous for its flagship lager, secondary offerings like Milwaukee Club allowed the brewery to broaden retail distribution and appeal to regional markets with dedicated branding.

Manufactured under Continental Can Company's Cap-Sealed design, this high-profile container features a two-tone layout split across cream and deep maroon backgrounds. The front face displays bold block lettering accented with a centered five-pointed star between "MILWAUKEE" and "CLUB," anchored along the base by an illustrated rustic lodge or clubhouse set against rolling hills, surrounding trees, and a flagpole flying a pennant.

Among breweriana enthusiasts, this particular release is distinguished by the side seam text stating, "BEER DOES NOT COME IN CONTACT..." to the left of the seam, reassuring mid-century consumers about internal lining technology designed to protect draft flavor. Variations of the Milwaukee Club cone top exist across different profile heights, base designs, seam text statements, and regional tax or distributor markings, capturing a transitional period in American canned beer packaging.
