Morlein Premium Beer Cone Top Can

Morlein Premium Beer Cone Top

The Morlein Premium Beer cone top can represents a notable chapter in New Jersey's industrial brewing history. Manufactured for Burton Products in Paterson, New Jersey, this container was part of the brewery's effort to market its flagship brand to a wider regional audience.

Brewery Heritage

Burton Products operated from the historic brewery complex on Straight Street in Paterson—a location with brewing roots extending back to the late nineteenth century through operations such as the Katz Brothers and the Paterson Consolidated Brewing Company. Following the repeal of Prohibition, Burton Products utilized the established Morlein label to capture consumer trust in the competitive Northeast beer market.

Can Design and Collector Notes

The can features prominent Morlein branding with bold period typography and classic decorative accents framing the label text. Like many regional labels of the era, the graphics emphasized the "Premium Beer" designation to appeal to quality-conscious consumers.

Known variations exist among surviving examples, reflecting minor differences in mandatory brewery text, legal notices, and lithography runs. Because Burton Products operated as a regional facility in an active brewing center, the Morlein Premium Beer can is highly regarded among collectors of East Coast breweriana.
