Muehlebach Lager Beer Flat Top Can

Kansas City's Muehlebach Lager

Produced by the Geo. Muehlebach Brewing Company of Kansas City, Missouri, this twelve-ounce container represents a classic era of Midwestern brewing history. The Muehlebach family name is deeply woven into the commercial and cultural fabric of Kansas City, beginning when Swiss immigrant George Muehlebach established the brewery in 1868. Through the decades, the company established itself as a regional powerhouse, heavily marketing its flagship lagers across the central United States.

Among collectors, this specific container is recognized by its "Large Date" design feature. The graphic layout features the brewery's founding year rendered in an enlarged typeface within the insignia, distinguishing it from related variations produced with smaller date typography or modified legal mandatory texts. The label showcases clean typography alongside the traditional heraldic crest associated with the Muehlebach brand during the mid-twentieth century.

Manufactured with mid-century soldered seam construction, the can illustrates the graphic evolution of post-war packaging before the widespread adoption of modern pull tabs and aluminum cans. Cans bearing the Geo. Muehlebach Kansas City mandatory remain popular centerpieces for collectors documenting the rich brewing heritage of Missouri and the iconic regional breweries of the American heartland.
