Narragansett Lager Beer 12 Oz Zip Top Can

Narragansett Lager Zip Top Can

Produced by the Narragansett Brewing Company at its landmark facility in Cranston, Rhode Island, this 12-ounce Zip Top can represents one of the most storied regional breweries in American history. At the height of its mid-century operations, Narragansett reigned as the dominant brewing power across New England, supplying millions of barrels across the Northeast.

The can prominently showcases the company's iconic marketing heritage. Narragansett earned widespread cultural recognition through its famous slogan, "Hi Neighbor... Have a 'Gansett!", which became a fixture in sports broadcasting during the brewery's multi-decade partnership as the official sponsor of Boston Red Sox baseball games. In addition to its sports presence, the brand holds a distinguished place in commercial art history, having featured earlier promotional character illustrations created by Theodor Seuss Geisel (Dr. Seuss).

Collectors recognize multiple label variations of the Cranston-brewed zip top. These differences include variations in border styles, promotional notices such as top-opening text on the face, and varying manufacturer markings—including the American Can Company "Keglined" insignia. Originating from the Garfield Avenue plant prior to the brewery's subsequent ownership changes and eventual closure, this can remains an essential artifact of Rhode Island's industrial brewing era.
