Narragansett Lager Beer 16 Oz Tab Top Can

Narragansett 16 Oz Falstaff Can

The Narragansett Lager Beer 16 Oz Tab Top Can represents a pivotal chapter in New England brewing history, hailing from the Cranston, Rhode Island brewery during its operation under the Falstaff Brewing Corporation. Known colloquially among New Englanders as a "tallboy" or "half quart," this 16-ounce container was a regional staple for the historic brand.

Corporate History and Legal Significance

Narragansett was long the dominant beer brand across the Northeast, widely recognized for its multi-decade partnership with the Boston Red Sox and the famous marketing catchphrase, "Hi Neighbor! Have a 'Gansett!" When the St. Louis-based Falstaff Brewing Corporation acquired the Cranston brewery, the transaction generated national headlines and led to a major federal antitrust dispute. The resulting United States Supreme Court case, United States v. Falstaff Brewing Corp. (1973), became a landmark antitrust ruling concerning potential market competition and cemented the Cranston facility into legal case law history.
