National Bohemian All Natural Light Beer 12 Oz Tab Top Can

Carling National Bohemian Light

The National Bohemian All Natural Light Beer 12 oz tab top can represents a notable chapter in Mid-Atlantic brewing history, originating from Carling National Breweries in Baltimore, Maryland. Known colloquially to generations of fans and collectors as "Natty Boh," the National Bohemian brand carries deep cultural ties to Baltimore and the broader Chesapeake Bay area.

This can reflects the era following the merger between the National Brewing Company and Canadian brewer Carling, which created Carling National Breweries. During this period, the company produced this lighter formulation to keep pace with the growing nationwide popularity of lower-calorie, light beers. The label proudly highlights the "All Natural" moniker alongside the beloved Mr. Boh mascot—the iconic mustachioed figure winking with a single eye that has served as a fixture of American advertising lore.

For breweriana enthusiasts, cans bearing the Carling National Baltimore imprint capture a specific and relatively brief transitional period in the brewery's ownership history prior to later acquisitions. Known variations exist across different production runs, featuring minor distinctions in mandatory regulatory text, metallic seam borders, and plant indicator markings.
