National Bohemian Bock Flat Top Can

National Bohemian Bock Flat Top

The National Bohemian Bock flat top represents a notable seasonal release from The National Brewing Company of Baltimore, Maryland. While National Bohemian was best known for its flagship lager, the brewery produced bock beer to celebrate the spring season, packaging it in specialized cans featuring classic bock motifs.

Design and Iconography

The graphic design of this flat top can sets itself apart from the brewery's standard line with a darker color scheme traditionally associated with bock marketing. The label incorporates the classic bock goat illustration alongside the familiar National Bohemian brand lettering. The packaging reflects the mid-century aesthetic of The National Brewing Company, which held a major cultural footprint across the Chesapeake Bay area.

Variations and Collectibility

Seasonal bock releases were packaged in far smaller quantities than year-round lager offerings, making bock cans considerably less common than standard issues. Collectors recognize several variations of the can, with differences found in can manufacturer markings, regulatory mandatory text, and state tax lid stampings (such as Maryland tax lids). Its regional heritage and distinct artwork make it a prized item among Baltimore breweriana enthusiasts.
