National Bohemian Light Beer 12 Oz Zip/Tab Top Can

National Bohemian Light Zip Top

Produced by The National Brewing Company of Baltimore, Maryland, the National Bohemian Light Beer 12 oz can represents a defining chapter in Mid-Atlantic brewing history. Famously known by locals as "Natty Boh," the brand became deeply intertwined with Baltimore culture and Chesapeake Bay life under the classic regional promotional slogan, "From the Land of Pleasant Living".

The can design prominently showcases the company's beloved mascot, Mr. Boh—the cheerful figure distinguished by his neat handlebar mustache, winking face, and single visible eye. During the era of this packaging, National Brewing Company enjoyed immense cultural visibility across Maryland. Brewery president Jerold Hoffberger, who was also the longtime owner of the Baltimore Orioles, established National Bohemian as the official beverage at Memorial Stadium, cementing the brand's canned lineup into regional sports history.

For breweriana collectors, this National Bohemian Light label provides interesting manufacturing details characteristic of the era. The National Brewing Company utilized both steel and aluminum container bodies across production cycles. Collectors cataloging this label will encounter multiple variations featuring subtle differences in side-panel mandatory text, vanity lid stampings, and regional brewery city listings, as National expanded packaging across distribution networks alongside its primary Baltimore headquarters.

As an enduring symbol of Maryland commercial art, the National Bohemian Light Beer can stands as a celebrated artifact from one of Baltimore's most famous brewing enterprises.
