National Bohemian Light Beer 14 Oz Tab Top Can

National Bohemian 14 Oz Tab Top

The National Bohemian Light Beer 14-ounce tab top can represents an uncommon packaging size issued by The National Brewing Company from its Miami, Florida brewing plant. While traditional beverage packaging of the era primarily centered around standard 12-ounce and 16-ounce volumes, the 14-ounce capacity was offered as an alternative intermediate size in select regional markets.

Adorned in the brand's signature red, white, and gold color scheme, the can prominently features the beloved mascot, Mr. Boh—the winking, handlebar-mustachioed character synonymous with the label. The side mandatory markings designate production at The National Brewing Company in Miami, Florida, highlighting the company's postwar regional expansion from its primary headquarters in Baltimore, Maryland. The Miami facility allowed the company to package and distribute fresh stock directly to consumers across the Florida peninsula and southeastern territories.

Within breweriana circles, off-size cans like the 14-ounce format are especially prized by collectors specializing in odd sizes or regional canning plants. The Miami mandatory line serves as an important regional marker for collectors assembling state-specific Florida breweriana or comprehensive runs of National Brewing Company label history. Known variations of this can exist, featuring minor differences in manufacturing codes and the arrangement of brewery location listings along the seam.
