National Bohemian Light Beer Small Can

National Bohemian Small Can

The National Bohemian Light Beer Small Can represents a notable chapter in the packaging history of the National Brewing Company of Baltimore, Maryland. Affectionately known as "Natty Boh," the brand established deep roots in Mid-Atlantic culture, famously tied to its one-eyed, handlebar-mustachioed mascot, Mr. Boh, and the iconic regional slogan, "From the Land of Pleasant Living."

Packaging & Collector Notes

Small-format cans, often referred to by collectors as "pony" cans, were marketed to provide a compact serving size designed to stay cold from the first sip to the last. This size became a staple at mid-century Maryland crab feasts, social gatherings, and sporting venues like Memorial Stadium during the era when brewery ownership was closely tied to local sports franchises.

Collectors actively seek this small can due to its compact lithography, which neatly condenses the brand's classic crest, signature script, and bold color palette onto a reduced surface area. Minor variations exist across production batches, featuring subtle differences in mandatory brewery text, seam construction, and canning marks, making it a sought-after staple for enthusiasts of Mid-Atlantic breweriana.
