North Starr XXX Beer 16 Oz Tab Top Can

North Starr XXX 16 Oz Tab Top

The North Starr XXX Beer 16-ounce tab top can is a classic piece of Upper Midwest breweriana produced by the Jacob Schmidt Division of Associated Brewing Company in St. Paul, Minnesota. Named after Minnesota's identity as the "North Star State," the North Star / North Starr brand was a staple regional label throughout the mid-twentieth century.

During the era in which the Associated Brewing Company operated the historic Jacob Schmidt facility, the brewery packaged select offerings into larger one-pint containers alongside standard twelve-ounce packaging. This 16-ounce issue features striking graphic design anchored by the traditional "XXX" designation and bold branding, framed by mandatory statutory text identifying the Jacob Schmidt Division in St. Paul.

Within the can collecting hobby, sixteen-ounce issues from regional Midwestern breweries represent sought-after shelf pieces due to their lower production numbers compared to smaller volume cans. Known variations exist among production runs, exhibiting subtle differences in can manufacturer marks, mandatory line breaks, and top lid stamping.
